The Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter of Sogang University was officially inaugurated in June 2010,
with a total of 35 students of Sogang Business School’s undergraduate and graduate programs ushered in as new members in the year.
The number of student members has grown to over 200 as of the end of 2012.
Since then, the global honor society for business schools has been thriving as a hub of the business school’s honor students’ socialization and leadership. The current student members of this chapter has reached almost 200. Each year, student members have made it regular to hold the chapter training programs and other events, including annual BGS medallion award to a chosen faculty member of the School.
Beta Gamma Sigma was founded as an honor society of AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) in 1913. Its mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement and personal excellence in the study and practice of business. The society aims at fostering in its members an enduring commitment to the principles and values of Beta (meaning honor and integrity), Gamma (pursuit of wisdom) and Sigma (earnestness).
Only AACSB accredited business programs are eligible to establish a Beta Gamma Sigma chapter which is a symbol of high principles and superior achievement. Membership is by invitation only.
Since its foundation, the Society has upheld the virtues of honor and integrity, wisdom, and earnestness. Over 650,000 business students and leaders from around the world have vowed to champion these values, and today, at Sogang Business School (SBS) Chapter, about 200 members, including students and professors Have been following through the spirit of BGS.
